Dialogue for peace europe tour team, organized by ven thubten wangchen welcomed at last stop in zurich
The Tibetan Community in Switzerland and Liechtenstein has welcomed Tibetan Parliament member and activist Ven. Thubten Wangchen and his Dialogue for Peace Europe Tour Team in Zurich, Switzerland on 3rd November 2019. In attendance at the reception of the activists were around 150 members of the local Tibetan community.The event was arranged at a city hall in Zurich.
The Welcome event for the Europe wide Dialogue for Peace Tour Team began with the singing of the Tibetan national anthem followed by a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Tibet. Swiss and Liechtenstein Tibetan Community leader Mr. Tsamda Norbu addressed the gathering to greet and congratulate the activists for their actionfor peace and freedom in Tibet through dialogue between the Chinese government and the Dalai lama. He took chance to thank them as well. Then, member of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, representing the diaspora in Europe, Mr. Samdo Jampa expressed his joy at the safe arrival of the team to Switzerland after their two months of travelling across Europe reaching 30 nation states and campaigning for a dialogue between the Chinese government and the Dalai Lama. Representative of the Dalai Lama to Switzerland Switzerland, Mr. Chime Rizin shared his appreciation of the dialogue for peace tout team and said that an action at that scale and length would never have been an easy achievement. He commended the group for their creativity and effort in pursuit of a dialogue in resolving the Tibetan issue. The representative also expressed the public of his pride in having been then present at the beginning of the tour and again at the final stop in Zurich.
The Tibetan parliamentary member and the key organizer of the dialogue for peace tour throughout Europe, Ven. Thubten Wangchen gave his vote of thanks to the audience and the community leaders for their kind gesture of the welcoming event. He emphasized the fact that the struggle for freedom should not just be a-day-a-year matter, but an everyday fight until all issues of Tibet with China are justly resolved and our political aspirations realized. He reminded the public to not to forget their individual responsibility in the collective fight for Tibet even if not all could actively take part in it due to inconveniences in their own host communities. He told the public that in all thirty nations he toured, he had submitted a petition to each Chinese embassy calling for their government to directly talk with His Holiness the Dalai Lama over the political issues concerning Tibet. He also shared with the public his experiences along the tour across the European continent calling for the Chinese government to come to talks with the Dalai Lama and creating awareness about the current situation of Tibet under China. Then, in his informal question and answer session with the public, he called for unity amongst the Tibetan community and to stand as one no matter what. He proved the attendees that without unity, anywork would be a challenge less done than said. He gave an example of his two western team members with whom he said he had no trouble at all throughout the tour.
In further comments he made, he declared that the thriving happiness and harmony among the Tibetans is all in due gratitude of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration and that every Tibetan should keep it in their heart.
Swiss Parliament member and Tibet supporter, Mr. Niklaus Gugger, also in attendance at the event , offered to help if in any need the Tibetan community in petitioning his own government for support on issues concerning the Tibetan dilemma. The Swiss Tibetan community has fundraised a total sum of 8000 Swiss Francs in donation to the peace tour team and was handed in person to Ven. Thubten Wangchenat the very function. The guests of the audience were served with a dinner at the end of the event.
